Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What should I expect from the counselling process?
A: In the first counselling session, we will meet and get to know each other and begin our work together. You will describe what problems you are having and we’ll make a plan for helping you to decrease the presence and intensity that they are having in your life. We’ll also ensure that there is a good fit between us so that we know we will work well together in therapy. At the end of each therapy session we will always work to set goals and make plans for what to work on in future counselling sessions.Q: What are your office hours?
A: I am available throughout the week and have daytime, evening and weekend appointments available. Please visit the above 'Book an Appointment today' link to view my current schedule.Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: The session that you book is time reserved exclusively for your benefit. My 24 hour cancellation policy is based on fairness to you, myself, and other clients needing appointments. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are charged at a rate of 100% for the cost of the session. Same day bookings which are subsequently cancelled (and where I am unable to fill the spot in time) are subject to the same cancellation fee.Q: Are my services covered by BC Medical or extended health plans?
A: BC's provincial health care plan (MSP) does not cover the cost of counselling. Please check with your extended health care plans (e.g., Blue Cross, Sunlife, ManuLife, Great West Life, etc.) to see if they will reimburse you for the services of a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. If you have coverage for therapy, you will be eligible to submit your receipt to your extended healthcare plan for reimbursement after you have made a full payment and received an official receipt. Also please note that in accordance with the Medical Expense Tax Credit (METC), the Government of Canada will reimburse recipients of clinical services that have expenses greater than $2,109 annually or 3 percent of the taxpayer’s net income.Q: How can I make an appointment?
A: Appointments are booked through my online calendar and can be accessed 24 hours a day at the booking button on each page. Alternatively you can email me at trailheadcounselling@gmail.com or text or call 604-727-7503.Q: How can I cancel my appointment?
A: Please e-mail me at trailheadcounselling@gmail.com, text or call me at 604-727-7503. You are also able to cancel through my online calendar if you booked through that method.Q: What if I am late for my scheduled appointment?
A: Clients arriving more than 15 minutes late for their scheduled appointment will be considered to have missed their appointment and a no-show fee equivalent to the full session amount will be charged.Q: What if I should need to speak to you outside of my posted office hours?
A: If it is an after-hours emergency and you require immediate attention please call the Vancouver 24-hour Crisis Line at 604.872.3311. You may also call 911 and/or go to your nearest hospital Emergency Room for assistance. Please leave a message and I will return your call within the day if possible or during my next scheduled business hours. I always try and connect with clients asap when they are in distress.
